On May 22, 2012 the Southeastern Aurora Development Corporation received notification that core funding from ACOA will discontinue, and transitional funding was being provided up to May 21, 2013. The SADC provides economic development leadership in southern Labrador. The board has operated for 16 years, and serves the interest of economic stakeholders from Cartwright to Lodge Bay, 11 communities three of which are not connected by a highway system.
The SADC board met on June 6, 2012 to discuss the current funding situation and established a transition committee. Becasue there was no other agency or organization conducting regional economic development services the board believed it was imperative to continue operations and find alternative sources of funding.

On June 22, 2012 the board received a letter from Innovation Business and Rural Development indicating that there would only be a six (6) week interim funding contracted provided to boards.
Due to the need for core operating funding, the board will explore alternative funding sources, prepare a briefing report for members and hold a membership meetings as per corporations act guidelines and select on of three possible options for the Corporation:
1. Continue Operation
2. Continue with changes in organization & scope of work
3. Wind-Down/Close
The decision to choose one of the three possible options for the Corporation will be reached on November 30, 2012.

During the next two months the Southeastern Aurora Development Corporation will be meeting with stakeholders/members to determine the future of the Corporation, and discuss how development will be foster, supported and implemented in the future.
