Mary's Harbour is located on the Southern Labrador coast at the mouth of St. Lewis Inlet. Although the community dates back only to the 1930's, St. Mary's River was the site of a salmon fishery from the 1780's.

Regional Profile
Economic Zone 4, Southeastern Labrador:
- 11 Permanent communities
- Total Population of 2,615 (mainly Metis descent)
- Population has remained stable in the Zone for the past 10 years
- Approximately 50% of the population are between the ages 20-50
- Economy based largely on shrimp and crab fishery
- The Zone covers almost 40,000 km2
- Trans Labrador Highway from Lodge Bay to Cartwright
- Air Labrador operates passenger and freight services
- Seasonal marine transportation providing service to Black Tickle, Norman Bay, William's Harbour and Cartwight
- Extensive winter trails system connecting southeastern Labrador communities to all Labrador regions
- Diesel-operated hydro plants in all communities
- Telecommunications services provided by Aliant. High Speed Internet access in Cartwright, Charlottetown, Port Hope Simpson, Mary's Harbour and St. Lewis
- Hotel accommodations in all larger communities, as well as private lodging and Bed and Breakfast in most communities
- Restaurants, takeouts and gas stations in larger communities
